Laaza is the name under which Laura Aznar Grau, a 22-year-old singer-songwriter from Barcelona, produces her music.
Broken but solid voice, magnetic gaze and a body language that doesn’t ask for permission: Laaza is one of a kind, and precisely that makes her shine with her own strength. Her musical universe takes inspiration from alternative pop, the jota and minimalist electronic music… but she doesn’t tie herself with any genre.
Hers is a mutating aesthetic, constantly under construction like herself.
She immerses herself in feelings of heartbreak, building all her music around an unrequited love. She invites us to experience the bittersweet side of love with boleros, rumbas and jotas, everything with her unmistakable voice and a very personal style. In addition, she manage and produces her own visuals, stablishing herself as a whole artist with her own and solid identity.
She is an artist that allows herself to mutate, doubt, fall and stand up. In times when everything is mass-produced, she bets for emotional craftwork, which, today, is deeply revolutionary.
She says that Laaza isn’t and alter ego, but a kind of creative refuge where vulnerability is in control. Rather than a “singer-songwriter” — a word that she says to hate but she uses anyway — Laaza is someone who knows that folklore isn’t out of fashion if you sing it from your guts.
