Music has been by her side since a very young age, and, although her piano lessons were imposed by her father, singing and writing came out naturally, as if she were born for that. The fact is that everything started with her parents’ CD collection, a small music-like Great Library of Alexandria containing voices such as Tupac, Eminem, Justin Timberlake and Alicia Keys, which helped with her training.
Her first music studio was her living room in her home in southeast London. At the age of six, she already started to experiment with melodies, and during her teenage years, she started taking composition seriously. But the turning point came when a friend recommended listening to “Vibin’ out” by FKJ, an experience that made her open her eyes about music. She finally found something that she actually felt identified with.
Her music is labelled as acoustic pop, with tender, paused, bittersweet, melancholic songs that move the hearer with their honesty. Her song “Shadow” is an example where Amie’s deep and raspy voice opens the song, followed by an acoustic guitar, which, later, results in a delightful combination of bass and electric guitar’s chords, drums’ rhythm and violins’ sentimentality.
Curiously, writing about herself and her experiences has forged a special bond with her fans, allowing them to identify with her lyrics until they make them their own.
“My lyrics are written in a particular way about myself and my own life, so it is interesting to see how people sympathise with them. Sometimes, I ask myself if we are living the same lives”.
